We are still collecting the most important questions and answers. As the WhatsApp groups fill up and new questions come in, we will add the answers here.

How do I access the Moodle course?
Campus IT should send your login details to the email address you used for your application. Open our English Moodle section and sign in with your HSD account and password. If you have not received your login details yet:
1. Use the guest login option if it is available.
2. Contact Campus IT support.
3. Follow us on Instagram so you do not miss any updates. -
What is Moodle?
Moodle is Hochschule Düsseldorf's central learning platform. It hosts courses, announcements and teaching materials. At the Faculty of Media, each module usually has its own Moodle course maintained by the respective teaching staff, so the structure may vary.

What kind of computer do I need for my studies?
Prof. Dahm has compiled recommendations for Media Informatics students. They are also broadly applicable to the first semesters of Media Technology, although pen and paper will be sufficient at first.
You can use a Mac, but some required software may only be available for Windows. You are responsible for finding suitable workarounds or running Windows in a virtual machine if necessary. -
When are the semester breaks?
You can find the official dates for teaching periods and semester breaks on the HSD website. Please remember that examinations may take place during the lecture-free period.

How much of the degree programme takes place online?
Classes are generally held on campus unless teaching staff announce otherwise.

Which classes have compulsory attendance?
Attendance is generally compulsory for practical courses and seminars. Check the requirements for each module with the teaching staff. Tutorials, especially towards the end of the semester, are usually very helpful when preparing for exams.

Do I need to bring my own food during Freshers' Week?
Bring some money for food. There is a canteen, a supermarket and other options around campus. The student council will provide drinks throughout the week.

Is the student manual available electronically?
You can download the electronic student manual here and keep it on your phone or tablet.

I am struggling with MNT. Where can I get help?
Ask the teaching staff about current office hours and tutoring. You can also contact the student council and we will help you find the right support.

What should I do if I have not received my semester ticket?
Check the current semester-ticket information provided by HSD and contact the AStA if your ticket is missing. Keep proof of enrolment available when requesting support.

Where can I get advice about financing my studies?
Contact HSD's Central Student Advisory Service or Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf for current advice and appointments concerning student finance.

Where can I get advice if I have a disability or chronic illness?
Advice and support are available from the Office for Accessible Studies (ABS).
